Our Story

The Giggling Goat Farm Shop & Bakery was born on a small family smallholding just outside Cemaes Bay. After moving to Anglesey from Norfolk in search of a slower, more meaningful life, Ryan threw himself into smallholding with both feet — learning to keep livestock, grow vegetables, and follow in the footsteps of his great-grandad. Along that journey, a simple swap of fertile eggs for a jar of sourdough starter set something unexpected in motion: a genuine love for breadmaking and the idea that good food could bring people together.

Food has always been part of Ryan’s story. From childhood baking days at his grandma’s house to insisting on adult portions at restaurants, the love of real, hearty, honest food has been there since the beginning. That passion now guides everything made at The Giggling Goat — from slow-fermented sourdough and indulgent traybakes to jams, chutneys, pickles, and seasonal produce grown and made on the farm. Everything is created with care, using natural ingredients and traditional methods. No shortcuts, no additives, just proper food made the way it should be.

The Giggling Goat is built on community spirit. While we won’t be operating a physical shop space, the aim is still to bring people together through good food and local collaboration. Ryan has been connecting with producers, growers, bakers and small businesses across Anglesey to create a network of quality, homegrown products. The vision is simple: to champion local makers, supply local outlets, and share the best of what our island has to offer — all made with care on our family smallholding.

As the farm shop prepares to open on a pop-up basis, sourdough pre-orders are already underway, and plans for stocking locally made products are taking shape. The Giggling Goat is growing into something that belongs not just to the farm, but to the community around it. This is only the beginning — and we’re looking forward to welcoming you to the farm soon.
